Saturday Club/Race Academy
Our Saturday Club runs weekly from April to October and is ideal for children and teenagers aged eight to 16, plus families, wanting to learn to sail. The 2024 sessions will run most weekends from Saturday, 13th April to 19th October.
The sessions start on the water at 2.30pm and are led by our Senior Instructor, Ben Ratcliffe, who is assisted by RYA qualified Dinghy Instructors.
Sessions are designed to be fun, and include how to set up a boat, boat handling, sailing practice and mini-races, and we also include a few fun activities and games, all designed to develop sailing skills in a fun environment with other young people.
Throughout the sessions our qualified instructors follow the RYA junior training scheme – from RYA Junior Stage 1 to Stage 4. Our tuition is also compatible with the requirements of the Duke of Edinburgh awards scheme.
We take special pride in our junior sailing programme, with past members now sailing regularly at the club, competing on the Open circuit or vying for a place in the national squad.
